Lean in Europe visit to Konecranes
Konecranes in Uslar (Germany) will host the 28th Lean in Europe visit on Tuesday 21st February. During the visit, participants will learn about the “Konecranes Way”, how it is used, visit the shop floor and will take part in two process optimisation activities.
The first activity relates to trolley assembly. Konecranes would like the participants to observe the current assembly process and propose ways to optimise the current assembly and packing process.
The second activity addresses the production of components. Konecranes will be looking for ideas to optimise its pre-set-up process for component production, including materials and tools.
The Uslar factory produces 20,000 motors (drives and spares), 24,000 chain hoist motors and 300,000 components (brakes, sprockets and couplings). It makes daily deliveries to the Konecranes factory in Wetter, has zero motors on stock and directly ships to customers who call its 24-hour motor hotline.
There are 14 places available on this physical visit. A preparatory group lean discussion and dinner will be held on the evening of Monday 20 February.
Applications must be submitted by 17 January. This activity is free of charge, but your company must cover your travel and accommodation costs. Lean in Europe visits are about the sharing of good practice and ideas. They are led by Prof. Richard Keegan, Adjunct Professor of Lean Operational Excellence at Trinity Business School and the EU-Japan Centre’s Lean Advisor. The visits are open to engineers / people responsible for process management / improvement working for a company or organisation in an EU27 member-state or in Iceland, Lichtenstein or Norway. Your company’s sector of activity is not important, instead what is key is that you use – or plan to use – process optimisation and lean management tools in your business and would like to engage with the group and with Konecranes.
